Advise pls

Hey guys,

I have a gtx  1060 and an i5 6400 8gb ram  450W PSU. My cpu is bottlenecking gpu really hard... Should i buy the 6600 or 6700 to get rid of bottlenecking ?

the 6600 should work well with it but it won't hurt to go with the 6700 if you can afford it.

Mostly on BF3 4 and 1.  on bf1 100% and always below 60

I don't have any bottleneck with my older gen i5 4460 with bf3 and an rx 480 4gb (similar gpu to yours) . What fps are you getting?

Your 6400 should be far from bottlenecking your 1060..

I think you're just putting your CPU and GPU under heavy load..

Well, on metro i get above 100fps so no problem there but on the big maps like kharg and caspian border, it sometimes drops below 60 fps

Get a 6700 or don't upgrade, the 6600 is a minor change

Not at all, my cpu is still at its normal frequency and i sometimes overclock my gpu slightly

Don't buy a new CPU. You'll just be throwing $200+ down the toilet..

Your 6400 is pretty much the perfect CPU for the GPU.

According to his motherboards CPU QVL the 6700 is only marginally better than the 6600 but cost ~$80 more. He's better off with the 6600 if he really wants a new CPU,

No, the issue OP is having is a lack of threads.  The big maps love i7's and the 6600 will still have issues, again because it only has 4c/4t

A QVL doesn't show performance

Also a 6700 is WAY better than a 6600

I think a bottleneck is happening here.. The 6400 might be just a bit too weak for the GPU..
