That's $140. That's the difference between a 1070 and a 1080. That's perfectly worth it. You do not need an 8-core processor for gaming. You will not need an 8-core processor for gaming for at least 8 more years. (end of Coffee Lake lifecycle)

Take your savings and buy VGA horsepower.

No  dude in our  place things pretty costly taxes also so it is not worth it plus we dont earn in college so no chance of earning more here  tight schedule and i think games will start utilizing more cores  soon as ryzen is getting popular game developers will be forced to do this as many gamers will be using ryzen .It is gonna happen soon.

Sooo you want him to buy you a CPU while he's there? Also, I can almost guarantee that just because people are buying Ryzen that every single game out there will not be optimized just for Ryzen.

Ok what? Sorry, I typoed in my last post. Meant to say will not be optimized for Ryzen. But now you're contradicting yourself??

No they will optimize for both but now it will be more important than it was earlier to optimize for amd platform

Please listen:

Gaming is a graphically-intensive workload.

The graphics processor IS, and will continue to be, the biggest bottleneck to any gaming system.

You keep talking about multi-core optimisation without any regard for what that actually entails.

Optimisation will enable the CPU's workload to be spread more evenly across multiple cores, instead of the emphasis on single-core performance that we see now.

This is irrelevant if the CPU is not experiencing 100% load on a single core while other cores sit idle. Today's AAA games do not peg a quad-core processor at 100%. Nowhere close.

You do not need more than 4 cores for gaming. You will not ever need more than 4 cores for gaming. Gaming is entirely dependent on rendering frames.

Stop wasting the forum members' time, and save your money, please.

If you are unwilling to listen to sound, proven advice, then just buy whatever and prepare to be disappointed.

Wow u see some games as seen on bench marks run 70 to 90 percentage usage on i7 so that creates problem and some even run 90 percent on i5

You've proven my point. There isn't a single game that can max out the 6700k. The bottleneck rests entirely on the VGA card.

Once again. If his CPU is bottlenecking him, as you say, then the solution is NOT to add more cores. It's to use fewer, faster cores with much higher IPC.

Buy a 6700k and stop trolling.
