Yes it can cause coil whine, you can probably limit the fps in the settings of the game or the nvidia control panel

any guide how?

Well for the game you need to go in options, video settings and then enable Vsync or increase filters( AA and stuff that is more demanding and will lower FPS)

Or in the Nvidia Control panel go to manage 3D settings, then Global Settings or Program Settings and manually enable/force Vertical sync for all your games, Put Adaptive on, its the best one from those

It depends on the game, some do make it feel sluggy but some dont, If you want do downclock the card, download MSI afterburner and turn the GPU core slider down

a 780 ti at 900p why would you do that get a decent monitor next 0_o

Turn V-Sync on instead of actually down-clocking your card.

Try turning on V-sync. You should be alright as long as you don't dip bellow 60hz. If you still unsatisfied then try and set a frame rate limit. I believe EVGA Precision X allow you do that.

2 my monitor already works AND in a not so bad shape? why waste $$$$

3 is evga precision like v sync but better?

4 what about nvidia thing that turns v sync on and off?

A 780 Ti is absolutely overkill for that resolution. It's overkill for even 1080p. I also don't like to be rude but please read up more on the topic before posting so you can have a better understanding.

USe vsync to limit the FPS, just see how that goes. 9/10 you won't notice any problems with it since your GPU is seriously overkill right now. Vsync only really become a problem when your GPU dips below the 60 FPS and goes back up repeatedly, which can cause stuttering. But a 780ti at 900p? Yeah that won't have that problem.

EVGA precision is a piece of software that allows you to fine tune, change settings and overclock your card. You can also use EVGA precision it to set a frame target, I know some people use that feature to limit their FPS.

well getting back to the topic

does that causes coil whine?
gtx 780ti on a 1440x900 @75fps
will that cause problems? cant i just limit the gpu speed to prevent it?
thanks

is it already doing a strange sound? if not just play without think about it.

if it start to coil whine RMA it.

if your question is if cooler running faster will reduce the life spam of the fan ... maybe.

if it's too loud, you can go to precision-x and adjust a fan curve and make it silent.
