Bug Report: MS Edge Print to PDF acts weird

Oh Microsoft Edge, how they have weird bugs...  Apparently one user who was viewing a PDF file in MS Edge had an issue with numbers and text getting jumbled when he tried to perform a 'Print to PDF' from Edge.

In a Microsoft Edge issue report (#11896203) from May 4, a user complained that the Edge browser was displaying his PDF correctly, but when he tried to print, the numbers get jumbled. He provided two PDFs to Microsoft as an example. The first was his original which looks like a chart with each field clearly labeled in numerical order (0123456). The second is a PDF he produced by using "Print to PDF." It is the same chart, but the numbers are all incorrect (1144477). While the renumbering does not look random, there is no discernible pattern to the numbering (see animation below).

While I don't see this as a problem if you avoid using the 'Print to PDF' feature in Edge or just view your PDF documents in something like Adobe PDF Viewer, it is kind of a weird bug... In the Ars Technica article on this, the Edge user who found this bug wrote: 'Possible workaround: copy the document after printing using a Xerox copier.' Honestly, seems like a sarcastic response to a strange issue.  Of course Ars response is:

A less arcane fix is to switch to an alternate PDF reader, ideally the one built into Google's Chrome browser, because it contains a robust security sandbox that prevents untrusted content from accessing sensitive operating-system functions. Until this flaw is fixed, people absolutely shouldn't trust Edge to print their documents.

Has anyone on the forums run into this bug yet?  I would test it, but only my home computer has Edge and I haven't opened that in months...

most people use adobe reader to view pdfs, so this bug is probably not very well documented because of that

really? I'm in the opposite camp. I haven't downloaded a dedicated PDF reader since like 2010, browsers do just fine. (and don't hate me on this, but to view/zoom a PDF with a touchscreen laptop, Edge is the best to display it)

You know the real name for the article should be:

"You know someone is using Microsoft Edge. The fuck is wrong with him?"

well with computers at work one may use what's on them, and they may be required to use IE or edge. Printing to PDF is important as it allows you to take it to another place to print (sneakernet). I typically use XPS files.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

For mobile, since I'm on Android, I end up using Google's PDF Reader unless it's a map document, then I use something like PDFMaps.  At home, it's still Adobe PDF Viewer.  Of course, they better fix this bug before they roll out Windows S since that version of Windows will only allow you to run Edge and not Chrome.
