No, this is not me planning a hackintosh. This is yet another theoretical build that may actually end up getting put together one day. So, here's the story: My brother and sister-in-law just announced that they where going to be having a baby. These people also LOVE Apple. They actually work for Apple in the chat for their online store. These are also the people who have it in their head that NO ONE will EVER need more then 8GB of RAM and 16 is throwing your money away. When Ryzen was getting ready to come out, they where also really dismissive of anything AMD. They where also convinced a quad core was all anyone would ever need. SO- I decided that I would do a custom pc for them that I could potentially use to kinda give them a bit of a slap in the face with at the same time. Knowing them, all they would be doing (for the most part) is gaming, though my brother would (more then likely) want to do even more. They already have a PS4, so I'm not worried about an optical drive.

SO, my list of things the computer needed:

1) Typical crApple collors-black and white

2) 16GB of RAM

3) At least a hexcore

4) Needs to Overclock

5) NO TEMPERED GLASS!!!(Worried about an infant)

6) CPU has to be AMD

Anyways, here is the PCPartpicker link and the list

Would love thoughts and opinions on the build. PLEASE DO NOT JUST SAY A CERTAIN PART IS BAD. If you think one part is bad, explain why you think that way, some evidence to back up your claim would be appreciated.

MSi still has one of the worse motherboard BIOS for Ryzen, I highly advise considering AsRock or Asus.

MSI is the only one with a white board, and you're the first person I've heard who didn't like their BIOs for Ryzen.

1) okay?

2) -_- wtf is that supposed to mean? Games on PC still don't take more then 8GB, it's just really nice to have the headroom.

3) I'm not building it for them to use at work, I'm building it for their home use.

4) Xeons are Intel. I specifically started it had to be AMD. Otherwise, I wouldn't do that cause I'm not made of money, nor am I FUCKING RETARDED.

If you look up the Patriot, Shipping is actually $20. Why leave it at 550W and not have a bit more growing room?

My friend, you got:

Ryzen 5 1600 - GOOD CHOICE, bang for the buck

Cryorig H7 - GOOD CHOICE, one of the best white/black air cooler for this price range, you can consider Deepcool Captain 240 white AIO as alternative. It does look CRAZY good.

MSI B350 TOMAHAWK ARCTIC - good choice, although a black mobo with white accents might work better here, like Asrock Taichi or Asrock Killer SLI/ac or Asrock AB350 Pro4. Keep in mind that some of those are x370 boards - so unnecesseraly expensive.

G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB(2x8GB) DDR4 2400 - good, but Ryzen supports 3000 ripjaws V (so ive heard)

ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Dual - IMO choose a RX580 - better performance, compatibility, FreeSync and Radeon Chill

Corsair Carbide 400C White - Great one!! I would choose the same as this is imo the best acrylic black/white case!, Alternative: NZXT S340 (not elite version!)

EVGA BQ 650W 80+Bronze -  I would take a EVGA G2 550W. Better quality and lower Watts as you dont need 650W.

An alternative: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Verrm/saved/7F9LkL

THANK YOU for not just bashing parts you don't like, and providing an explanation for your options. I wasn't sure if they would be comfortable with water, so I decided to just go with the H7, but I did consider using a Captain EX cooler in my rig. I'll probably end up using the Fractal Design Celsius S36 in mine since it will be available in the US. I think if I went with a 580, I'd end up going with the MSI Armor OC edition since it would probably fit the build the best. I can't find availability for the Asus 480 8GB Dual anywhere besides on Amazon, where they are asking ~$280 for it, and the 580 Dual is no longer all white. When it comes to the PSU, what about the B3? It's also fully modular, with all black cables, and I'm seeing it's starting at $64.93 vs $79.49 for the G2.

According to knowledgeble people in PSU forums the difference is in electronics inside. The G2 has better electronics and as I read they are one of the best you can get for this money. So simply you can say that the difference is between sleeping well with your proposal and sleeping very well with mine. Tough choice, more of a personal opinion.

About GPU: the Armor one has no backplate which might look not that great with black/white build. You can try sapphire card with nice black/white backplate https://pcpartpicker.com/product/sF648d/sapphire-radeon-rx-580-8gb-nitro-video-card-11265-01

I cannot say more on S36 AIO as I never read about it...

Jay just made a video about it this morning, though I may swap out the fans for something that will perform a bit better.

Also, updated list with the adjustments and fans removed. 650W is only $8 more, so...

Updated to include mouse, keyboard, monitor, OS and WiFi(just in case they decide that's what they wanna use for whatever reason).

Regarding RAM sticks: on official asrock mobo page there's stated:  "Each RAM whose frequency is 2800 will downgrade to 2666 with AB350 Pro4." So cut the price, even if by a slight margin, and get a 2666mhz ram sticks. The corsair vengeance white low profile ones look nice for example. Geil Luce look super-cool also :)

Regarding Monitor - IMO the best option for gaming widescreen IPS monitor is LG 29UM68-P.  The other one is not popular for a reason probably, I just didnt have time to read about it.

Looks nice otherwise, I won't discuss mouse and keyboard ofc and Im glad you put in kinguin price of windows :)

Also I won't discuss additional fans you added. One last thing - check if case supports this air cooler dimensions. And double-check that when buying this Cryorig H7 you'll get am4 brackets and wont be needing a separate sending from manufacturer. Oh, and you really don't need 650W PSU. The 550W is all you'll ever need as system won't take more then 450W probably even when OCed. And you'll never want to upgrade this computer with 2nd GPU. 2nd GPU will never be justified and manufacturers often stated that 2 GPUs in SLI/CrossFire is mostly not optimal setup.

On a side note: Damn this would look good! Can you send me some pictures if you finish this build?

The difference that I found in the two monitors is the 29UM68-P is 75hz and has a different stand, and (after shipping) is ~$35 more. When it comes to the PSU, the G2 550W is $9.50 less then the 650W. Stepping up to the G3 on either wattage would only be an extra fifty cents. I figured a little extra growing room for not that much more would be worth it. I wasn't planning on this becoming a multi GPU system, which is why I stuck with the AB350 Pro4 and threw in a PCIe Wifi rather then going with the X370 Killer SLI/ac.

Otherwise, yea, I'll post pics when I'm done and build it. I keep finding myself having requirements for certain things when I'm looking. For example: for a monitor, it has to be at least 60Hz, IPS, no more then 5ms response time, and either Freesync or G-Sync. Yes, I use filters like this when I'm looking. Keep finding myself being a stickler for aesthetics.

Heh, Im the same so I know how you feel... If Im about to use the PC every day for couple of years then it is worth spending a bit more $$ for aesthetics. I understand your PSU choice there. Im soo waiting for pics :) Maybe you can start a build log in the Build Log forums?

Definitely will. Unfortunately, I have other people wanting me to put together part lists for them. One is wanting black and green(not terribly difficult) and would be using it for casual gaming(though what they would be playing, I don't know); the other is wanting black and freaking PURPLE. This one would probably be playing stuff like Minecraft, Undertale, Subnautica, and Skyrim more often(they also have a newer cooking YouTube channel apparently).

For black and green you got NZXT S340 razer edition case that'll match good :)

For black and purple... there is one case, but its not good... https://www.amazon.com/DIYPC-DIY-F2-P-Purple-MicroATX-Computer/dp/B01JMXKV04/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1494837459&sr=1-6&keywords=purple+case

You can try going with something like a black case with window and white inside and then add strong purple LED. White tend to catch whatever color LED strips put on it.
