It's... decent. It's not bad but it's not great either.

I've heard mixed things which would lead me to avoid it even though I love Sapphire's designs.

Like I said, "I've heard mixed things". I've not used a red card since they were still in quadruple digits (Sapphire 7870) and can't really speak of the card itself.

I have a Nitro+ 470 8GB, and it's okay. It doesn't get super hot or anything, but it is louder than I'd like, but I have quite high expectations so you it might not bother you.

Not sure, but mine's been running nearly a year now (I only reboot for updates and very occasional maintenance) and it's never had a problem. I think the cooler is pretty good.

have you done any overclocking? i think my card (with its pretty big overvolt and overclock) overheats when i run kombustor

Not a big overclock, it gets really stuttery and unstable above about 1360MHz@1150mV (1275MHz stock) and the RAM is still at the 2000MHz stock. I think my PSU is limiting it a bit to be honest.

how many watts? you could try overvolting.

550W I believe, seems like a lot but I always multitask heavily plus my CPU isn't exactly the most efficient. I've tried lifting the voltage a bit, but I hate noise so I try and keep it cool as well. It already gets great fps and I have a Freesync monitor so I can handle anything over 50 or so.

It actually may be 450W, I can't remember and it's up against the side panel so I can't be bothered checking.
