Morning guys,

So got a interesting one for you, This is on my Lapis build (Specs Down below) I recently went from a GTX 580 to the Sapphire RX 470 Platinum one, I run Afterburner with OSD setup.

So the GPU usage in Mechwarrior online, GTA V and also but no where as badly in Mass Effect 3. While GTA running mostly on high at 1080p using only 2.5gb of thr 4gb and locked at 60FPS so not stressing it but most of the time my card is showing 100% usage of the care and temps get up to 75-78, the temps don't bother me but what does is this sounds like a bottleneck, surely my old i7 isn't that much faster than a pretty new card.

Or is this just how the Radeon cards run ? or even just Afterburner been funny, just doesn't seem right as its not exactly a weak card and my 580 wasn't even 100% maxed in those same games.

Don't worry about bottlenecks so much.

If your GPU is at 100%, increase settings and see if it stills gives more frames. Decrease settings and see if this gives more frames. If either is true, you're under-utilizing or you're fully utilizing the GPU.

Also, VRAM doesn't equal more performance if you're not using it. There are games like GTAV where the most you'll see is around 3.0GB unless you have all of the extras enabled.

GPU Bottleneck is the ideal situation for Gamers, meaning: GPU usage = 100%~

then your GPU uses 100% of it's performance, which is exactly what you want.

If your GPU is too slow (100% usage, but lower fps than you WANT), you either need a stronger GPU, or you reduce settings, which is EASY.

On the other hand, if your CPU Bottlenecks, there is nothing you can do. maybe reduce objects, or shadows, but that's it. Nothing will make it run better, except  a better CPU.

That's why for gamers: GPU Bottleneck > CPU Bottleneck.

But like @ARikozuM said, don't worry about Bottlenecks. There is ALWAYS a Bottleneck, otherwise you would have unlimited fps.

Thanks @Darkseth , @ARikozuM

Yeah not worrying me just never seen a gpu sitting at 100% that much, and yeah the card is performing amazingly very very happy with it going to try some AAA titles once I finish my ME3 playthrough.

I'll play around with settings and see whats what.

Hahaha! Hahaha! Yeah...

Spoiler

Playing Rocket League on a 980 Ti (5760x1080) and my i5 CPU is at 40%... hitting 120Hz...

Trust me, it's far too easy to change bottlenecks around these days.
