what you doing with this PC? and whats the overall budget for the PC (as ryzen needs a GPU at the moment due to it having no onboard graphics)

I have a gtx 1060 6gb. I do mostly just 1080p gaming and some video/photo

2 8GB sticks at a higher frequency would be better as it will let the CPU overclock better. Cause that shit affects ryzen a lot more than intel cause of the way it's designed

That will be better than the 6600k even though it has a lower ghz?

for gaming you want to overclock it, and you'll get maybe 5-10fps (max less) than a 6600K, as for the video/photo editing, it will be much much better, as it has 12 threads compared to 6600K's 4 threads, meaning that the 1600 will be able to do all of that side at least 2 times faster (in most cases) You will need to overclock it though to about 3.9GHz which I believe isn't too hard to do with ryzen, you might need an after market cooler though. but a 212 evo will be able to do that easily and it's only $25
