What should this folder be called?

Hello! I need to figure out what this folder to be named. It contains the setups of programs like: chrome, adobe cc, discord, google play music and programs like that that I use on a regular basis but are not a game. What should it be called? (the other folders right now are: Drivers, Games, and Tools).

Why do you keep the setup files...?

You only need the setup once when installing the program.

It is completely useless afterwards and can just be deleted.

I keep setup files for my most used programs so I can easily install them all from one place when I need to reinstall windows or something

I end up installing windows a lot. So I keep all of those setups on an ssd that I also have my files on.

But then you're installing an old version...

It's always better to redownload the latest version of programs when you do a clean install, unless it is a rare program or something that has no downloads available anymore.

 

What I do is make a list of all my programs and save it in google drive, and when I reinstall I just go through the list and install them.

It's sometimes easier to just install the setups and let the autoupdates run.

most programs can update themselves if they need to be and a lot of them don't need to be updated regularly. And I keep that folder updated regurlaly (what I'm doing right now). My main thing is that it is super easy to run a ton of setups than to have to find the download link, download it and then run it. Its also OCD, my downloads folder is one of the most organized on my PC.

Well hopefully you don't run them all at the same time...

I would call the folder "setups" or something like that.

 

OCD doesn't let me have an unnecessary folder with a bunch of potentially outdated versions of programs, which is why I use a list.

Okay, then how exactly do you plan on separating any of your installers in a single word while still knowing that the container contains installers? Just do Installers>Media/Games/Tools/Benchmarks/Etc.

Usually on my Archive Disk I go like

 

Archive - Software

Archive - Audio

Archive - GFX

Archive - Setup

 |- Drivers

 |- Tools

 |- Programs

 

etc... 

 

Inside the setup drivers folder may be seperate computer folders for storing every machines own drivers in one place.

oh, I guess I wasn't clear. My file system starts off with Setups>Drivers, Tools, Games, and this one. This one contains all of my usually used programs that aren't games. I guess I'll have to find a new file system that can have more consistent yet relevant names

Oh, I see. That makes more sense. I just labeled mine, "Media".

Remove Tools, create applications,under that:

 

Audio

GFX

Office

Packers

Web

 

for Example...

 

Always keep in mind, not going too deep with the folders. Filesystems tend to vomit after a certain path depth and path namelength
