Hi!

The problem is that my laptop from Asus has a i5-6200u processor that sometimes is up on 2,5 ghz but keeps going down to 0,45-0,5 ghz. Its a huge problem... Its lagging....

So what i want to know is if i am able to keep the ghz up over 1,5 all the time... (just higher than 0,5 ghz)

Thanks for reading

It's almost definitely thermal throttling.  Use HWMonitor to check your CPU temps.

Of course if it's dropping to those speeds when you aren't doing anything, that's normal.  It's just to save power, and doesn't actually affect performance.

Don't waste your time with HWMonitor.  It cannot fix the problem that you are having.  Try running ThrottleStop and disable the BD PROCHOT option.  This program has helped many Asus laptops.  The Limit Reasons option will show you a reason for throttling.  Intel designed their U CPUs for low power consumption but that does not mean that they should constantly throttle.  Here's an example of how fast a 7th Gen U CPU can run when fully loaded.  Limit Reasons reports zero throttling.

Also, there is no need to have your CPU running like a slug when it is lightly loaded.  Use ThrottleStop to enable Intel Speed Shift and set the Energy Performance Preference (EPP) to 0.  Modern CPUs save power when they enter the low power C states like C7 so running them slow and sluggish is not really necessary.  Hard to argue with 3500 MHz and 0.4 Watts.

off topic, how did you unlock your ryzen cores?

Just select 4+4 or 3+3 in bios with a 4 core installed. Only works on a high end asrock board as far as I know.
