Not sure about my current ssd

So I'm building my first pc. I havent bought a drive yet, so im using my brother's old ssd. Not sure on the life left...

 

ANYWHO, I'm trying to activate windows 10 on my build. I've gotten so far as the partition selection. Ive tried to select 'new' under the selections, but it keeps showing an error so i cant use it. Should i just buy a new drive?
