Combo jack

I recently got a HyperX cloud stinger which runs on an audio combo jack. My computer only has seperate mic and outgoing sound jacks. can someone reccomend an adapter or something?

No AUX is a combination of L & R sound just in a single 3.5MM jack. USB is the same thing but, USB.

yeah i think thats it, i just only have seperate Mic and Headphone jacks but this fits in them.

Just search for "3.5mm 4 pole splitter" and buy one from whatever place you like.

Search for adapter which has on one end  4 pin TRS jack (the regular stereo jack with one extra contact for microphone) and on the other end two regular stereo plugs, I think that's what you're looking for.

 

Use terms like "female" to represent the jacks (where you plug something INTO) , and male for plugs that go in something

Yeah, it fits in both because the plug/jack with 4 contacts (rings) is designed to be backwards compatible. if you plug it in standard connector that has only 3 contacts inside(like the headphones and microphone connectors on the case), it will work but you won't get the microphone working, or maybe one of the speakers won't work. But nothing will be broken.

 

So again, the connectors on the case have only 3 contacts, so one contact in your jack will not be connected to anything inside (or be shorted to ground)

 

You need an adapter cable like the one I showed you above, which creates two jacks that each has 3 contacts (3 rings) on them.
