intel optane

so i have a 500gb hdd atm and i thought about getting a optane butttt they only come in 32gb max but i have 2 m.2 lanes so could i get 2 and have 64gb of optane???

Why not just get a cheap SSD? It will work way way faster than optane.

You can get an MX300 for that. Why up the complexity?

It's a cache, what makes you think you need 64gb of cache? You're going to be copying 50GB files at a time? 

Also why do you have a Z270 build without an SSD?

The current commercially available version of optane is exactly the same as those caching SSDs that were available many moons ago.

 

It also runs off the SATA bus (before anyone tries to correct me, I suggest comparing the connector for the optane modules against an m.2 SATA SSD) which means that you'll lose a SATA port by using just one.
