So I was talking to my best friend the other day and admitted my guilty pleasure to her.

I like to watch shopping haul and makeup tutorial videos on youtube. not because I'm interested in the subject but I just put them on in the background on autoplay while I play Xbox or draw or just lie in bed on my phone etc. I never actually listen to what they're saying I guess I just find the sounds of British girls voices soothing I guess its a type of ASMR for me?

is this weird? just to clarify I'm a straight bloke in my 20s

I lurk a lot

Nah man, I put up background noise all the time. Sometimes it's TED talks, but it can be anything. As long as you feel comfortable, who cares what it is.

I mean im not one to usually care about what others think of me for the most part but i think this one struck me out a bit cause you know im not exactly the target audience of shopping or make up videos :P

Hmm, not sure about the makeup tutorials, but i certainly like some background noise as well.

When i'm doing something productive, i like to listen to something important or interesting as well, like Level1News, The WAN Show and sometimes RCR's "ask Mr. Regular", its quite entertaining and most of the time i can filter 100% of what they say.

I mean, we all have our guilty pleasures, and it's not like you're super into the topic. It's just something you like to have in the background.

You would probably be surprised about the kinds of things people put on as background noise.

There's something oddly reassuring in hearing people talk about whatever in a calm demeanor.

I guess I just like to listen to girls voices like you said I think it's the calm tone that most of them talk in that satisfies me (what was a weird choice of words but i couldn't think of anything else to describe it :P )

Radio is certainly interesting. You Chris Evans, the one that presented Top Gear for a short while?

You're from the UK so i'm pretty sure you know about him, it was one of my favorite "background noise" shows to listen on TuneIn...

Oh my, can't deal with Chris Evans :P

Like his voice becomes so annoying it can no longer be background noise, my mind fixates on the annoyance from it ?
