As the title says, Best Boot SSD <130 USD, preferably decent capacity

It might be a bit overbudget for the 525Gb version but the crucial mx300 is a decent drive.

MX300 for capacity. 960 EVO for "speed".

I've used Horrible* (Apparently, I love loved them) SSDs and high Performance SSD's and have noticed very very little difference, I actually use the worse of my SSD's for boot and my fast Corsair one for game files as windows isn't exactly demanding.

 

That said I've never used NVMe yet. so could be faster there. but not like even my old Kingston V300 was slow.

I just put together a budget build for my brother. He has a standard 240GB SSD that has read speeds of 560MB and 200MB write speed. The Motherboard has a crazy UEFI feature that boots windows 10 in about 6 seconds. It booted Windows 7 in what seemed like 5 seconds and I didn't think Windows 7 supported any UEFI boot. I don't see the benefit of M.2 NVME right now until the price comes down. I am talking when you can start typing on screen. Crazy fast load times with the same SSD that I have had before. The motherboard makes a difference in boot time. So any SSD will do.
