Do you have the Creators update?...if yes then open settings then click Gaming then you will see three choices Game bar, Game DVR and Game mode, click on game mode then you hit the Use game mode slider so it is on then bam you are using game mode, however if you use Game DVR you will see no improvements.

Hey guys,

I wanted to check if the windows game mode would do anything for my pc, but i can't even find an option for it. and while checking for it it says that windows is up to date. could you tell me how i could get it?

You need Windows 10 Creators Update. You can check if you have it, by typing in Windows search box: winver, and hit Enter. A panel will show with the version number and build number. You need to be on Version: 1703. That is the version of the Creators Update.

Once you have Creators Update, go to Start > Settings > Gaming > Game Mode

Here you can turn it on and off.

Hope this helps!

Note: Microsoft releases the Creators Update in waves, and based on hardware/driver certifications. Meaning, if you have a hardware that has been identified to have an issue with the upgrade, you won't get it, until Microsoft can find a way to solve it (send a driver update via Windows Update, or fix the issue in Windows Creators Update update to rectify the issue).

Unless you know what you are doing Microsoft doesn't recommend to force the upgrade, currently.
