Many of those games are testing games, or using settings that aren't conductive towards SLI scaling. I wouldn't call those benchmarks "reliable". Sorry.

Here's my counter

 

  1. It's an SLI 1080 vs OC'd 1080Ti comparison
  2. HBAO+ is known to cause poor SLI scaling in certain games
  3. GTA V's advance graphics options cause SLI scaling issues
  4. The Division's ultra preset uses TAA, which causes SLI scaling issues

You shouldn't OC when SLI'ing for the most part for stability purposes.

I'm sorry but what the hell is the point of getting SLI on high end if that will result in you not being able to max out your games? seems a bit dumb being frank, so you'll get the best but you can not play at the best settings?

 

Any ways I suppose since you've your mind locked on this subject arguing will lead neither of us any where.

What stability issues? Lol, I've been OCing on SLI systems for the last 4 years and haven't had any stability issues.

Most of those settings are superficial. HBAO+ and TAA can easily be substituted with variants that offer similar IQ with much better performance in SLI.

Of course, because you're arguing your subjective preferences against objective fact, which is perfectly fine as long as you can separate the two. You prefer max settings with graphics effects that historically doesn't play nice with SLI? Cool. You prefer games that don't work well with SLI? More power to you. You prefer OCing on single card systems, but not SLI systems? Not a problem. Though none of that means SLI is irrelevant, just that it's irrelevant to you.

I borrowed a friend's 1080 to pair with my 1080 cause he upgraded to a 1080ti.  We tested several games.  I was able to OC my SLI setup vs his OC 1080ti and did find that the SLI OC setup was always at least slightly ahead in the games we tried (which could be further improved by disabling certain settings) but at it's best it was night and day.  I'm talking 30+ FPS in some cases at 4k, which is significant.  Now for ease of use and all that, definitely go with the 1080ti.  If you don't mind tinkering around and don't want to go through the hassle of first selling your 1080 to get the 1080ti, I say go for SLI
