OP has a 1050 2GB in his sig.

The 1050 isnt very powerful, only around a 950. All you can really do is make sure your drivers are up to date.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

oh yeah. But the 1050 should get him above 100fps on Dota 2 right? I mean it's Dota 2

Oh.. I didn't notice it was a laptop. My bad.

This laptop has the same processor and GPU... skip to 15:10, Dota 2 Ultra 1080p, 5v5

It's Ok. So my laptop is underperforming right? What should I do?

Check if the bottleneck is on the GPU or CPU.

Check if bottlenecked component is throttling (heat or core clock)

Check temps if too high > clean out dust and new paste?

If all hardware seems fine, its probably software. Could be junk running in the background. Do a full restore?

How to check CPU or GPU bottleneck?
CPU and GPU not throttling, clock speeds are fine
Temperature far lower than the Asus one from the video you linked just now (max 65 for CPU and max 60 for GPU)
Will consider do a full restore if I buy a SSD for my laptop

The bottleneck is the part that is at 100% usage

If at least two CPU threads are at 100% usage, that also counts as a bottleneck

Erm seems fine for CPU and GPU usage, max is about 50%

Yup. I think there might be wrong here...am I right?
BTW the GPU is set to 'prefer max performance' in Nvidia control panel

Start menu search "Resource Monitor"

Open it and go to the CPU tab

On the right side you can see the activity and load % of each thread. You should see four threads.

With the game running, how many threads are being maxed out?

4 threads. All threads are maxed out evenly.

I'm sorry but I think I mixed up the info that I gave you.

In this case, all settings are turned down (lowest settings). In highest settings, max is about 80% for both CPU and GPU (during team fights, the usage is slightly higher than 80%)

By max out i meant 100% usage.

If all threads are at 100% during the game, that is a CPU bottleneck.

You'll have to check if the CPU is throttling (in CPU-Z, sensors, frequency reading)

But your results in max settings don't quite make sense. If both CPU and GPU are not at 100%, that means neither are working at their best for some reason.

No throttling. I uses NZXT CAM to monitor those readings.
Must it be 100% in normal condition?

What you want is the GPU to be at 100%

That way you know it is churning out as much frames as possible.

Usually if its not at 100% during a game, it means there is a CPU bottleneck (CPU unable to feed enough data to the GPU to max its usage)

If there is no throttling, that can only mean a software issue. Could be background applications taking up CPU resources.

Ok. I'll look into it. Thanks for your help!
