hi forum.

i was wondering. as i am getting a new pc. i would like to give its User Interface a big overhaul. i was looking around on the internet for an option for me to customize the top bars from application windows.

and possibly get custom loading bars as well. and i was considering rainmeter as well. but i hear some say that rainmeter is fairly demanding on pc resources

eventually what i want to accomplish is a theme of black and green. maybe with a kind of pcb style.

but i was wondering if there was a way to create my own theme or so to accomplish that.

any help will be very much appreciated

Do you code? if not - i doubt that something like pcb toolbars are possible.

There are tools that give all kinds of themes like Arc not sure bout others, i dont use them. Note: somewhere in the internet must be some tool that allows to use custom colors

I personally work a lot with rainmeter and if you stick to basic stuff it isn't resource heavy at all. However, if you start making huge skins (with a lot of variables that constantly change or something that outputs a lot of data like a 4k background that has to be completely rerendered every frame) you do start to dig into system resources unless you know how to code efficiently with rainmeter (only update the skin when necessary and set as many of them to not update at all). I managed to recode a skin that used ~20% of my 4.4GHz 5820k in such a way that it now only uses 0.1% but a 1440*3440p background that changes color based off of the system volume is always at 12% cpu usage for me because of the ammount of pixels it has to push every frame.

Do please think about the fact that rainmeter is only able to run on your desktop. You can tell certain skins to place themselves over your programs but this doesn't really replace a real windows UI change.

I'm not privy to creating themes, but I know the wonderful users over on DeviantArt.com have made MANY many themes for Windows over the years. That's where I'd start asking questions, since they seem to be on the up and up for modifying resources and such.
