Hey guys,

I have a VM running of pfSense to support my home networking running in an ESXi environment.  I require a wifi solution as some of the home machines do not reach via Gigabit Ethernet. I need a wireless solution however Ive been reading that pfsense and wifi cards aren't always the best combinations.  What are your guy's suggestions?  Separate Wireless AP?  Or dedicated wifi card via pass through?

I would get a ubiquity AP, they have a good selection of speeds, pick what ever fits your needs.

Cool!  Ill look into one right away!  Thanks for the quick responses. :)

Its the one I use in a small office environment. Pricey but worth every penny.

Ubi stuff is nice but they are not standalone APs. they need software on a pc to config. if that isnt a drawback for you then go for it.

The software is only needed for configuration, unless you enable the Zero Handoff Roaming, which isn't supported on any of the AC APs. With the AC APs, you just need the software for when you make changes.

If I was in a small business environment I'd defiantly give it a try however for home and small-ish area use its abit overkill.

Software configuration is no issue, I just need a cheap-ish and reliable solution and Ubuqities basic AP seems like it will do the the trick. :) Still open to suggestions though!
