yes rx 480 8gb has more vram.

It actually doesn't matters because RX 480 could offer you 4gig or 8gig version and the games today could barely reach 4gig of memory usage. So it is not a big deal at all. Might also give you like 3-4 more FPS.

wrong, games with mods take up vram, you can easily go up to 8gb of vram usage in skyrim modded.

List me other games than modded skyrim that could reach EASILY as you said 8 gigs of ram.

For real dude.. 4gigs is more than enough if your budget could not help you get the one with 8 gigs. If you have more than enough for the one with 8 then go for it.

a lot of 4k games that the rx480 can play with settings turned down.

Rise of the Tomb Raider can use over 6gb of vram with setting turned all the way up.

fallout 4

fallout 3

gta 5

a lot of otehr games if you look around, open world.

That is only partly correct. If you look at something like ROTTR which often and gladly uses more than 7GBs of VRAM if available, it's wrong. Or Fallout 4 with Bethesda's HD Texture pack.

I would go with the 8GB version because 4GB can get quite full in today's, and especially in future titles.

Main PC: R7 3700X / Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro Wifi / Radeon RX 5700 XT / 32GB DDR4-3200 / 250GB & 2TB Crucial MX500 (in HP Prodesk 400 Case)

Laptop: R5 2500U / Radeon Vega 8 / 8GB DDR4-2400 / 500GB SK Hynix BC501 (HP Envy x360 13)

My little Server: i7-7700 / Asrock H110M-ITX / 24GB DDR4-2400 / Samsung 860 Pro 250GB & Seagate Firecuda 2TB / VMware ESXi 6.7

(Don't tell me i should Name them, i don't want to ^^)

"Moniter - AOC E2270s" For you does this monitor look like a 4K monitor? Am I semi blind or something? Is says FULL HD. Means 1080p. He didn't specify something about planning to go 4K or something. If you can afford going 4K then do it. He wants to play 1080p as far as I can see.

Indeed 4Gigs could get quite full but what happens if your Vram gets 100% used? Nothing much, just a few frames less and maybe the textures loading kinda slow. But not that slow so you can't play it. Barely visible.(happened to me in GTA5 while playing with a 2gigs video card)

There, you said it yourself. No point in buying a 4GB Video card.

That's not quite right. It starts outsourcing textures and other data into the system RAM, which can cause major framedrops and unplayable FPS.

I also played GTA V with a 2GB video card, a GTX 760 to be precise. I like to monitor my hardware. Indeed, the VRAM got quite full, spikes up to 2040MBs weren't unusual. But it never got so full that it had to outsource textures and data into system RAM.

Conclusion: Don't buy a 4GB video card if you can get a 8GB one for just a few bucks more.

But only if there are just a few bucks. Cause it's not worth it paying more than 50$(in my country) for an 8gig version. And btw, when we are talking about an RX480, I believe FPS drop won't be that higher cause it could handle all of the games easily at 60-70 FPS.

Framedrops are major when VRAM isn't enough, as the GPU has to outsource data and textures into the system RAM, as said already. This has nothing to do with how fast the GPU is.
