I'm piecing together a compact LAN box sort of thing out of an ancient HP slimline case. I have a 300W Seasonic Flex ATX PSU and a low profile 750 Ti for the moment, but I'm looking to upgrade to a 1050 Ti soon. I'd love to strap in an i5 or i7, but the power demands of even standard chips concern me. Enter the 6400T and 6700T. I can get the i7 for about $215, haven't priced the i5. Is a 6400T sufficient for a lightweight gamer paired with a 1050 Ti, or would getting the 6700T be a better move long term?

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Cpu performance is fine, but id get the normal chips. They run the same temps at idle, and id just limit the clock on the faster ones if it runs to hot.

Heat isn't my concern. TDP is. T chips are 35W power sippers.

You can limit the tdp on any chip.

Even still $215 for a 6700T is a pretty good deal
