NOT USING DEDICATED GRAPHICS

My laptop is a toshiba satelite p50-A and has a gt 740m gpu chip. Instead of using it, it keeps on using intel hd 4600.

My specs:

i7 4700mq

16gb of ram

1tb of storage

gt 740m, graphics card

Thanks for your help!

@Pendragon Can you remember the exact way to force a program to use the dGPU, it has been too long since I used Nvidia for me to remember.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

Force it to use the dGPU through the Nvidia control panel should be under manage 3d settings.

I assume it's enabled in the BIOS? All drivers and, possibly, related Toshiba software installed?

Did you check power settings? Make sure you have the default 'high performance' plan enabled.

Does you mum know you're here?

Weird, after changing it in Manage 3D settings -> Program settings tab to High-performance NVidia processor on the program you want, it works fine for me.

I have a 630M though.

It's on high power and In the bios, it shows nothing related to chips.

does your laptop detect the nvidia card properly? Does it show up in device manager?

run a benchmark with it and see which one is utilized. use unigine heaven.

update the nvidia drivers as well as the intel ones

what program are you using that isn't able to use the nvidia chip.

My computer doesn't allow me to update my intel chip drivers, only nvidia. I can see it in device manager. In rainbowsixsiege, it uses intel hd 4600. In overwatch it shows gt 740m, but i get like 30fps avg with my gt. I watched some vids and their fps was a lot higher, like 10fps or 20fps more.
