Headphones?

I've decided to buy some new headphones (or rather the 668bs broke) and I want to know your recommendations. No more than around $80 or so. I prefer open back.

the lower end on them certainly isnt anything to write home about, so if you're into heavy edm or bass stuff it probably isn't going to be for you. But if you have more of a well rounded taste in music or sound signature then you'll probably like em quite well.

 

Certainly for less than 80$ you're not going to find much better, though the AKG k240 mk2 comes to mind. I'm a bit of an AKG fanboy though.

Considering i'm more of an old style guy when it comes to music, and thinking about the SHP9500. Also, because I find the 668b fine then I think the low end there should be no problem.

Yeah, they're usually cheaper from Newegg. I bought mine on Newegg. 

 

It's an awesome headphone and the bass is fantastic (clean & punchy), but it's on the quieter side.

If you can find them on sale at any point on Amazon, the AT m40x are a hidden gem that end up getting overlooked because of the m50 and m50x, even though the m40x actually have a flatter and more accurate sound signature. Built fairly well, sound great, and have a detachable cable. This last point is actually a fairly important feature, as it means different lengths can be used and a kinked/broken cable doesn't mean a pair of dead headphones, just a new $10 cable.

Audio Technica ATH-M40x.

 

I've had them for 3 years and are still in great condition.  They have a super accurate sound signature and are really the best at this price point.

Dude, gaming headsets are the shittiest things ever.  They're almost shittier than beats!

 

What do you get?  A pair of crappy headphones and a crappy mic for twice the price.  Get music headphones and a separate microphone for your gaming needs.  Or use a solution like ModMic for a headphone attached mic.
