Hello, I am looking for a new headset, i am quite open. I have $150 to spend. I need some assistance, I'm looking at both the HD 558 and the 280. I don't know much about high quality audio but I really do. With the headset I will be gaming and listening to music. I have a desktop microphone so i don't need it to have a mic.

598's or dt 770's should be good

The DT 990's might be a better choice than the DT 770's, because of its open back design instead of closed back.

$200

Seems like you Americans are getting shafted with the price, because of importing from Germany. They are 140 euros where I live. I do see some deals on the American Amazon for that price.

The HD558 are excellent. They're super comfy and have no harshness in the highs or muddy bass. You can buy these blindfolded. Noise isolation is poor because they're open back. But that's not a problem if you use them indoors.

The HD 280 sounds weird to me. They pack a lot of detail and sound pretty balanced (between the highs, mids & lows) but overall they sound hollow. It's weird to describe. And the comfort sucks big time because the headband clamps really, really hard. Sound isolation is incredible though, they'll block virtually everything.
