So I saw a guy asking about if his overclocked I7 980X could do 4k gaming, and I am intreastead in jsut doing 1080p gaming. Would this still be a good processor for todays games at 1080p? The one I am currently looking at is $100 on ebay. (yes its a used I7 980X but a new one costs nearly $1000)

Don't invest in a dead generation cpu. For $100 try some 3rd gen i7

A 6900K costs $1000. Thats the MSRP for this ancient product. Get at least a third gen i7 or a Ryzen

Is that the CPU only, or system? LGA 1366 motherboards sell for up to $300 USD. If you want a cheap system look for a Sandy or Ivy bridge complete OEM system. just research and make sure it is up gradable for GPU and PSU. If you can find an affordable 1366 mobo, go for the Xeon X5650 or higher.

No. You can get a dual socket LGA 1366 from supermicro for like 75 bucks under 100 if you get lucky like 65 that would make a killer rig probably even perform better then your 4.3ghz overclock but if gaming if your #1 then no probably not worth it but if you dont pay for power i would go for it
