Ryzen 7 1700 with H115i

I'm looking to build a new gaming, dev and video encoding PC this year and the Ryzen 7 1700 looks like a great option.

Would the Corsair H115i AIO water cooler (280mm rad) be good enough to handle the Ryzen 7 1700?

I know that Corsair is releasing AM4 brackets for their current AIO water coolers that don't already support it.

I've been using AIO water coolers for years now but I don't really want to get into custom water loops just due to the maintenance.

If you guys don't think that this AIO will do the trick, what AIO water cooler would you guys recommend for the new Ryzen 7 chips?

Yeah should do the trick.(Do make sure you have the AM4 brackets) The new 1700 chips don't really run hot and a mid range air cooler would also work.

It should work A-OK, but as Arcanekitten said, make sure you have the proper mounting brackets.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Thanks, I appreciate your input.

I guess since I posted this, I'll ask what you guys think of my potential build.

To me, that setup looks great really. The only thing I'd maybe consider is getting the faster 3200MHz ram as the Ryzen infinity fabric heavy relies on faster ram to perform faster itself. But other than that its great bud :)

I use one on the 1700x build below in my signature. Works Great.

That PSU is WAY overkill. you could cut your cost in half with a 600 - 750 Watt class unit.

[FS][US] Corsair H115i 280mm AIO-AMD $60+shipping

System specs:
Asus Prime X370 Pro - Custom EKWB CPU/GPU 2x360 1x240 soft loop - Ryzen 1700X - Corsair Vengeance RGB 2x16GB - Plextor 512 NVMe + 2TB SU800 - EVGA GTX1080ti - LianLi PC11 Dynamic

Great setup, only thing to note is your got a 1100Watt PSU selected and it's a great PSU but for your system a 600watt would be fine. Saving a couple bucks ;)

Good to know, I didn't think about that.

I just updated my build with 32GB of G.Skill Ripjaws V Series DDR4-3200 Memory.

Yeah that new kit will work wonderfully :) will you be doing any build logs once you get it setup?

Fair enough, I just picked that PSU as a placeholder.

I wasn't dead-set on that one yet :)

I really want to get a semi-modular PSU that has platinum efficiency.

In that category, the pickings are slim... I changed it to an 850W since I like the be quiet brand.

I'll definitely put a build log on pcpartpicket.com

FYI, here's my NAS that I just built this past November:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/TkvV3C

I'm gonna try to put more pictures up for my NAS and when I do this new build :P

I'm looking to build my new PC later this year... maybe end of summer.

So some parts will likely change, but I figured that this would be a good list to start with.

I ended up dropping the PSU down to an EVGA 750W 80+ Gold and bumped the memory up to 32GB of 3200 DDR4.

Saved a few hundred on the PSU and added about $40 to the memory.

Thanks for your input everyone :)

I'm looking forward to building this PC and giving my old PC to my wife... she can't be trusted to keep the PC clean and virus free :(

I do like reading the build logs, that's why I asked :) I've been wanted to build a plex only server for a while now and yours seems to do the trick nicely, maybe I'll get round to it at some point.

I'm personally using a Thermaltake 750 80+ gold now and it's more than enough for all the hardware plus more so it's a good choice and to save a lot of $'s too.

To save from needing to get a bracket you could get an H100i (not V2) or H110i (not GTX), as they are compatible with AM4 out of the box, and don't need any additional bracket which can save on delays. I was able to OC my 1700 to 3.8GHz on the stock cooler, and using an H100i temperatures are very low under load (45°C).

My only regret with my Plex server NAS is that when I was choosing components, I went with a 4th gen Intel processor and motherboard.

I read a few people recommending the mobo that I got and I didn't use my brain.

If I could do it again, I would have gone with 6th gen Intel components for barely any more money... or I would have waited a few months and gotten 7th gen Intel components.

That being said, I'm not unhappy with the performance, I just know that I could have gotten a little more performance and a newer architecture for basically the same money.

Good to know, but I've already requested a free AM4 bracket from Corsair, and I just got it a few days ago :)

I mean, I love their products so I'll almost certainly get one of their AIO water cooling solutions and they're currently giving the AM4 brackets away for free... as opposed to selling them for $5 later.

Also, I do have a H90 cooler, currently cooling an Intel PC, which if I did use it for a Ryzen build, I'd need this bracket too.
