Is The Blue Nessie Good Enough For Rapping?

Blue makes some pretty good microphones for streaming, so I would assume so.

Yep

If you already have the microphone, then why don't you just try it?

There are entire rap albums recorded via a phone line, so chances are the Nessie will be good enough for what you're doing.

Well, how does it sound to you? if you think it sounds fine, then it probably sounds fine.

You can definitely get microphones that are better, but you'll be hitting the law of diminishing returns pretty hard.

Just post a video or recording to a status update and we'll listen to it. As loathe as I am to rap, just tag me and a few others.

Well, in what cases do the microphone only sound "meh"? You would need to identify whether or not the microphone is at fault or if it's something else.

There's a lot to recording vocals of any kind and the microphone is only one part of that. Everything from the room you're recording in to the post-processing you're doing plays an equally important part to the final product.

I'll just see if I can get another mic (some of the parts fell off of my Nessie anyways)

If not I'll stick to the Nessie

Thanks for all of your help guys!

I would still look into how and where you're recording you vocals.

If you're thinking a new and improved microphone will fix everything then you're going to be disappointed.

Well, it's not just the room you're in. It's also the post-processing you're going to do.

Like, are you going to add delay, reverb, compression and/or pitch correcting?

For rapping thats not the most important part.you have to mix it correctly.

To OP if you want a New mic get a SM58
