Tablets didn't really fail, it is just users thought it could be PC replacement and the makers kept advertising it to be that way but once you used it, then you realized that you are limited.

I feel the tablet will replace the laptop soon as the two are now blending together.

But I still prefer a physical keyboard and a mouse. I don't like the on screen keyboard on tablets. Typing on it is very difficult compared to smartphones due to larger size. And this may also be a reason of its extinction. Yes, there is 2 in 1 laptops but I don't think tablets going to replace an actual laptop with physical keyboard. I just shared my opinion.

I never found tablets very usefull and maybe that's a common opinion. They are basically bigger smartphones without beeing able to phone or use whatsapp. They are supposed to combine the best of both worlds but for me, they can't. I cannot be as productive as with a laptop with them, also because i dislike typing on tablets. But at the same time i don't get the benefits of a phone, a small device i can put into my pocket and text other people. I have a tablet but the only thing i use it for is watching youtube videos in bed.

This is rather amusing, when the tablet fever was all around I kept loyal to laptops since Windows has always being my favourite platform, in fact even by today I don't care to smartphones, I'm all for laptops, just bought a new one with an i5 6200u to replace the old i3 2365M one.
