Hey guys,

I'm looking for a new laptop for use at uni, so nothing too fancy. Since I'm considering an exchange to Canada, I would also like something gaming-capable in case I can't bring my tower with me. Budget wide I'm looking for something under $1000. What would you recommend?

Note: My uni work consists of word processing, adobe suite use, and using game engines for game design classes. Also I'm in Australia so consider that when offering solutions.

Any help is appreciated, thenks

Personally I'm using Lenovo Y520. Unless you care about the battery life, it's an excellent laptop. Has quad core i5/i7 and 1050/1050TI. Also it's quite light for a gaming laptop (2.4kg)

Edit: I'm a student too.

With that TN its hard to recommend. I still think the Y520 and the VX 15 will make better buys.

The HP Pavilion/Omen 15t also have IPS panel but have higher prices.
