Hey guys, I'm a person with relatively small tech knowledge when it comes to building a PC or even what parts to buy, but due to my old computer starting to die, I'm in a need of a replacement. My main use is for gaming with some possible plans to stream or do some video work in the future. I'm not aiming for a god rig, but something that will last a couple years without upgrading, my budget is set around roughly 1300$CAN, but can be extended for priorities. If the knowledge helps, I have a memory express that I can drive to, but besides that I don't know how to put a computer together. I'm open to all suggestions and recommendations. Thanks for the help guys.

In that case, I would recommend you buy used. older i5s and i7s (preferably 2nd gen or newer) are still fantastic processors that you will likely find floating all around craigslist with a motherboard, heat sink, and ram included.  Pair an old i7 or i5 with a gtx1060 or maybe 1070 and you will have a beast of a computer.

i would suggest maybe one of AMD's new R5 cpu as they pack alot of cores which is good for video editing and streaming. the cheaper 6 core would be what i would look at if you can afford it but if not the 4 core is looking like it will be very good for the price.

So I am back guys with a list based off of Brooksie's suggested list and the 1000$ Holiday list by Linus in the 2016 Holiday video.

Put down a build for you, If you are willing to spend like 100 bucks more (50 bucks more after rebate) I guess the list with the 1070 will be a great choice. But, if you are only going to play on 1080p you might consider the list with the 1060. The 6700 and 16 gigs of RAM will keep you safe for a 4-5 years (at least lol) seeing that the Ivy Bridge i7 still runs pretty damn good for gaming.

So with the build you have suggested you should be able to get good performance right now but it's harder to say in the future how well the rx 480 will hold up. You should expect to have to put the settings down in some of the newer games a year or two from now as they get more demanding. As far as video editing and streaming goes you should get excellent results with the 6 core processor compared to anything else in the price range. It may not do as well as an 8 core r7 but it should still be very capable.
