Today is a sad day...

For all those not in Australia we were recently hit with Cyclone Debby (fuckin debby) and while wasn't hit with the actual cyclone we got hit with a fairly hectic storm and while I was away from the house a tree branch broke my living room window and water got all through my two shelves of retro games and consoles. My PS1 and 2, N64, SNES and NES along with all of my games got drenched. The PS1 and 2 games are fine because they're disks but the consoles are gone and the N64, SNES and NES and the massive shelves full of cartridges alll got completely soaked. I though it was just the consoles but I checked a bunch of the games on my mates consoles and its probably all of the games as well. Instead of spending thousands on replacing it because I don't have the money to do that. I do however have the money to make a cheap-ish PC to put next to my living room TV to play emulators of the games I had but I don't know what sorta specs I'm gonna need so I built up a pc on PC Part Picker and hope this should be fine.

Get a g4560 instead, get 8gb RAM,and get a decent case along with an s12ii for the psu and it looks good. I'm not too knowledgeable about emulators but I think it should work.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Well i am so sorry to hear that.. fuck i dont know if i can take it if i were you.

As stated above u should go for G4560 instead of i3 6100 because the performance its almost the same.

And get s12ii for the PSU.

That pc will run Nes-PS2 emulator just fine. even Wii and Wiiu emulator will run smoothly although it depends on the game state.

You see emulator is not that hard to use, its like playing your game directly from the desktop shortcut, The differences is that u have to setup control and graphical settings to achieve the best performance (similar to pc game although u will see some option that u might have not seen it in pc games, Dont worry though its easy to learn it aint rocket science)

Well there are thousands of Nes emulator out there like Snes, etc google is your best friends.

As for PS1 and PS2 use PCSX 1 and PCXS 2.

And for the ROM, I am not sure if this forum allowed to share such thing as i dont know if downloading a rom is illegal or not especially for ps2 games.

The most important things u have to know before running an emulator is to see the game compatibility.

In emulator we call it STATE.

In the official page there are compatibility list for the games.

If its stated as Good then its playable although it depends on what terms they are using.

Just because he gonna use it for n64 emulator only that doesnt mean he need less ram cause the system will also use memory. with 2Gb hell he will have like 400mb available.

Behold the power of Chuck Norris the forbidden one.

Might as well get 8gb if they're getting a 460 so that they could do light gaming with it anyways :P

Ok so I swapped all the stuff you said to and I think its fine. My only question is should I get a GPU with more VRAM or will the 2Gb be fine.

CPU: Intel Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($72.00 @ PCCaseGear)
Motherboard: MSI H110I Pro Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($99.00 @ PCCaseGear)
Memory: Crucial 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory  ($39.00 @ Centre Com)
Memory: Crucial 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory  ($39.00 @ Centre Com)

Video Card: XFX Radeon RX 460 2GB Video Card  ($149.00 @ PCCaseGear)
Case: Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini ITX Tower Case  ($52.00 @ IJK)
Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 620W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($105.60 @ Skycomp Technology)
Total: $649.60

Also I believe that if I own the games that I have the ROMS of then it isn't illegal, so I'll probably chuck all the games in a box and put it away somewhere.

Some emulator like Cemu and Dolphin will need more Vram.

I am not sure if 2Gb is not enough since i never monitor my emulator while playing it and it was like a year ago.
If your budget allow u then u should get 4Gb instead

I believe if you are going to go with G4560 your mother board will need to get a bios update using a 6th gen processor, if you don't have one try to get a MSI B250M PRO-VD. And also I think power supply will be under utilised as well. You can try something like Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze. someone from the community can add comment on these two changes :)
