fresh install if changing the mobo?

Do i have to do a fresh install of win10 if i change just the motherboard eg from an asus x99-board to a msi x99 board or just update the drivers and utilities?

If it doesnt boot.. or post you need to reinstall.

 

Install drivers either way

It is best to do a fresh install but if you know your way around you don't have to, you would just go uninstall the old drivers and then reinstall the new ones and everything should be fine.

It's easy to get around if you have a DVD or a USB to make bootable. Just follow the guide in my signature.

 

Windows 10 makes it easy and actually removes/finds the new drivers to make it work.

When I changed my mobo windows could still boot, but was not happy with me. Took me a month to get it propely functioning again. So to save the trouble clean install

Main PC:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | RAM:Corsair LPX 3200 mhz (16Gb)
