Really, really temperamental architecture. Needs to be OC'd and gets warm to compete with modern processors. Doesn't need 6 cores. Dying motherboards since the architecture is 7+ years old and they will get more and more scarce as time goes on

I was originally going to do an i3 6100 with the h110 motherboard 8gb or ram and then the gt 740 and once the summer I'll get the gtx 1050ti

Go for the RX 470 instead. Much better for price.

i3 6100 and 1050 Ti is both boo boo. I would go with i7 2700 and RX 470.

i7? No. But you don't really need a upgrade path at this point because AMD Ryzen looks like it will be a good value. That is the only advantage of the i3. You have upgrade path all the way to Kaby Lake i7.

the only problem is you end up with a bottom range i3 that will loose so much value to sell and upgrade. Don't get me wrong I like your thinking here but for a budget kind of build it just doesn't seem worth it. 

@OP you been able to find any 4th gen i5's  ? something like a 4460 could work great for you, will last long time for gaming long as you go bigger on the GPU

O yeah forgot about Haswell existing... Somehow using a haswell to type this yet can't remember it existing...
