Networking noob

Hey guys I was wondering if you could suggest me some modems for just simple home networking. The ISP provided modem is just not cutting it, and im willing to upgrade to about US$200.

Due to my house's layout, Ethernet cable isn't possible so range should be about a 8m radius. The network will be used on about half a dozen devices and will be primarily streaming media (ie, not too much gaming).

Linksys WRT1900ACS IEEE  or the  Asus RT-AC88U in sale are great and even can handle gaming if needed

First of all are you looking for a modem or a router or a modem/router combo? Thats what we need to know. A modem, does not have WiFi. Modems just allow you to connect to your ISP. While a router has the WiFi and can share the internet to multiple devices. 

 

If you need a modem then we need to know what kind of internet you have.
