A sad story to a new build

Hello all,

Very recently started watching the Linus channel and felt this was one of the better places to come for advice.

After a recent house fire my hand has been forced to finally put some cash into a new build.

There are so many options and I just can't decide on the best for my budget

So the spec. I am looking for a build in the UK on a budget of £1000 for gaming at 1080p possibly 4k depending on the monitor I finally decide on. I also run a media server from the same machine and a VM for my in-laws accessing from a Pi3.

So what do I have already well surprisingly my SSD survived the fire and sitting in water for 2 weeks before I could recover it and pull ALL of my data from it! (highly recommend the Sandisk Ultra II sata3 240GB)

I also have the rest of my storage covered from an old server so no need for drives.

I also am not including peripherals in this budget! As they are covered as separate items from the insurance.

I am currently stuck with going for a 27" 4k monitor or a 34" ultra wide 1080p but if anyone has ideas or recommendations for a compromise between the two it is also appreciated

Thanks in advanced for all advice and tips

EDIT: would prefer Intel with Nvidia and have very small lenience in the budget

ok so, £1000 no storage, periferals or monitor needed?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

For this price range, the rx 480 is the perfect card, so don't always stick with Nvidia
