Look, I was talking with a friend about g sync and he kept saying that it is useless. He said that 1ms is g sync and that it dose nothing. I want to know for sure as im looking to buy the Dell - 27" LED GSync Monitor for about $500. I know that g sync has to do with your gpu and monitor syncing up. Is there any truth about what he said, That 1 ms is g sync and is useless???

Response time has nothing to do with refresh rate / G-Sync, and a 1 ms response time does not provide any of the benefits that G-Sync does. A 1 ms response time would reduce motion blur, while G-Sync improves smoothness by synchronizing frame timings with the GPU output. Response time doesn't improve smoothness, only reduces motion blur.

Response time is not a good way of measuring the latency of a panel. You should be looking for high-quality monitors with accurate colors.

Well, it isn't a way of measuring the latency of a panel ;)

The Dell S2417DG or S2716DG are both good options. Haven't looked at what's available recently though, so there may be other options.

I prefer a 27 inch instead of 24 inch

then i would suggest you spend a bit more for a 1440p monitor if you have a GTX 980 or better

and i would probably order this:

The S2417DG is fantastic after a slight gamma tweak. Easily the best TN I've personally seen. Granted, have not seen many since the old days, but they've come a long way.

My only gripe about the 27 inch version, is that it's capped at 144. The 24 inch version uses a newer AUO panel that does 165. It's also $100-$200 cheaper (depending on sales and retailer) with tighter viewing angles to avoid the yellow gradient shift. That being said, I expect the 27 version to be of similar quality when it comes to color accuracy. That, and the lack of backlight bleed/ IPS Glow is fantastic on the one I've had. Something I can't say for the many IPS/PLS panels I've had since switching from TN years ago.

EDIT: May have confused BLB and IPS Glow. Forgive me, lol.

Also i have a gtx 1060, which i do plan to upgrade in the next couple of months

GTX 1060 can run games on high-ish settings with some kind of AA at 2560x1440p - 60 to 90+FPS depending on the games, which is great for the most part...it's as fast as a 980 with more memory, i'd get a nice monitor...upgrade GPU later.

144...are you kidding me...with Gsync...even 90 to 100FPS is stupid smooth...i game at ultra 90FPS and i get good settings most of the games ultra with FXAA it run smooth and awesome...i have IPS, this one is TN, but other than that it's as good as the gaming monitor i use right now...and honestly, it's flawless...moving the mouse on the desktop is like...liquid smooth.

Yeah but... 165 is a bigger number :P

Nah, I only got it because it was cheaper. I actually cap my FPS at about 150, so for me, the difference between the 24 and 27 inch, would be 6fps, lol. I must say, if the 27 version looks anywhere near as sharp as the 24 inch, it's worth every penny. Going from one of those 27 inch 1440p Korean S-PLS panels to this thing, it's night and day.

usually you get smoother framepacing when GPU bound...in the 140 to 190FPS range most of the time you are CPU bound which is not great...i'd rather play a locked 90FPS Gsync than a varying 140 to 165+FPS...i think...not sure...but in most games...i think yes.

i5-4460 will limit you for high refresh gaming in modern games...i'd get an i7-4770K or i7-4790K and sell the i5

Then get a GTX 1170 or whatever they call it...this is what i would do...personally.

I agree. It's why I use copious amounts of AA, even at 1440p. The only time I let the frames go unhindered, is during Overwatch or other competitive shooters. For my RPG's, I wouldn't care if it dipped to 50's, as long as it stays smooth. As for Overwatch, I can't tell if it's a placebo or not, but I feel like my tracking is better when framerate is running higher.
