the compatibility issue is that you selected a Z170 motherboard, and might need to update the BIOS to have it work with your 7th gen chip.

if you want plug & play functionality you might want to switch to a Z270 motherboard.

updating the BIOS shouldn't be too hard though.

Which is impossible if the BIOS is pre-KL bios (2202 i think).

please, don't get that power supply, it's garbage and can very likely set your parts on fire.

What compatibility problems are there and what else do I need to select to complete this build?

A psu is the only part that can destroy every other component in a system. Surely it is worth investing in a unit that will instead provide stable, clean power to those components. Leading longer component lifetimes and fewer unexplained glitches.

I would suggest foregoing an overclocking system. The money saved can be better spent on other parts of the system.

An optical drive is generally not needed these days. Unless one had a CD/DVD collection.

Without knowing how the system is to be used or the budget it is a bit difficult to flesh out the build. But something like the following would be a decent general and gaming system. It lacks an o/s and peripherals.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

360w might not be a good choice. 500 would be better suited for efficincy.

@knightslugger do I need sli support if I plan to buy a graphics card in the future?

only if you think you might buy and use two nvidea pascal cards in the future. if you buy an AMD, crossfire will work on either B350 or X370. But for right now SLI is only supported on the X370s.
