Need help shrinking my computer

Current Build:

CPU - i7 3770k (socket 1155)

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper212 Evo

Motherboard - Asus P8Z77-V Pro ATX

GPU - Msi Gaming X GTX 1060 6GB

RAM - 16GB (2x8) Gskill

PSU - Rosewill Lightning 1000w

Storage - 2 3.5" drives and 1 2.5" drive

Purpose of upgrade

I'm planning on moving around a bit in the near future and would like to take my computer with me. Right now I'm in a huge case from around 2012 and I'm looking to move into something smaller. I would like to keep as many of my current parts as possible to keep costs down, I'd like to stay under $250 US. I don't particularly have a preference on a case yet but I'd like something without glass and not super flashy. I've never built a small form factor build before but I'm comfortable enough with building that I'm not worried about any difficulties from that. My main concern is the motherboard, I don't know much about the smaller motherboards and I know my cpu is a little bit older so any suggestions on that would be appreciated.

You would need to look for a 2nd hand micro atx or mini itx board if you wanted a smaller case.

After checking a bunch of motherboards on pcpartpickers compatibility page for my cpu it looks like you're absolutely right. Any suggestions on sites other than craigslist and ebay, already scrolling through those.

I think Ebay is probably going to be your best bet to be honest or see if you can find a pc store that deals in 2nd hand parts.

That's what it's looking like, I found an Asus Maximus V Gene for 125, a little expensive but I'd really like the luxury of staying on an Asus board with the Z77 chipset. Thanks for the help!

Looking at case options now, really like the Define Mini C from Fractal, just kind of want something smaller.
