Drawing Tablet

I want to dabble in digital art and wanted some recommendations on tablets. I don't know where to start, but do know I want one I can simply plug in over USB to my PC or MacBook Pro and do some quick drawings with my stylus from time to time.

honestly the surface pro and fresh paint app are stunningly good as a drawing sketching device. it's the best tablet experience i've had short of a wacom purpose built surface

This might be a stupid idea but, do you have a ipad? If you do DUET display is a good way to start it allows you to have a touch interface on your ipad and you can use a stylus. Its about £14.99 for duet and works through the lighting cable on both mac and windows :)

I just looked into DUET after you mentioned it, seems pretty cool :). I don't have an iPad unfortunately :/
