Hello all,

I have finally decided to build a decent machine. Mostly for gaming ( dont care much for 4k gaming . 1080p with high - ultra settings is good enough,) and normal day-to day use.
The problem is that I have dificulties choosing the right parts.

For now, Ive chosen the following: / Prices are converted from BGN ( Bulgaria ) to US $ . for now the whole setup + a Full-hd monitor is around 2200 BGN or 1215 USD. I  dont want to go much further than that.  ( +5 % maybe )

CPU  - i5 7600 4,10 Ghz. - 271 USD / with stock cooler - I recon it should be enough

I was wondering whether I should go with the i7 7700 but the cheapest i could find in my country is ~360 USD. Should I go the extra margin, considering I dont care about streaming or video rendering. / As I have mentioned, i would mostly like to be able to play any game with good visuals.
Mobo - Gigabyte B250-HD3P - 107 USD DDR4 2400mhz

I dont know much about Mobos.. The other variants i fount interesting were the MSI B250M Bazooka, the MSI z270M Mortar and the Gigabyte z170mx gaming 5.

RAM - Samsung 2x8gb 2400 mhz DDR 4  - 117 USD

I could get GEIL 4x4gb 3000mhz for around 143 USD, but then I should also upgrade the MoBo as well.  Is the speed ( mhz ) that important to justify the extra 40 bucks? ( + another 90 $ for a better MoBo )

PSU - Corsair VS 650W -  69 USD

I recon this should be enough ? it says that the mobo supports only AMD Crossfire but not Nvidia SLI.. - so dual GPU is ..а no

GPU - Gigabyte gtx 1060 mini 6 gb OC  - 310 USD / (cheapest 1060 where I live )

I have an old gtx 760 from a friend but then I wont be able to play just any game with high to ultra  visuals, right ? :D

OR I could get the gtx 1060 ..normal size 6gb OC  for 331 USD

SSD - Intel 120 GB  520 series - 76 USD

HDD - Seagate 1000gb Barracuda - 57 USD

All this fit in Raidmax Vortex V5 case / 37 USD

My question is - is this worth the money, because I dont want to spent a lot on a PC. What do you think? What would you recommend ? Will it be atleast a little future-proof rig ?

Thank all of you in advance !

Cheers!

Get the i7, don't bother with RAM speeds, and get a RX 480 to save money. (4gb/8gb)

The i7 WILL increase your PCs lifespan.  Don't get an i5

BTW, here is a great RYZEN build

At that price point get some better ram (brand-wise not speed-wise)

CPU: Intel Core I7 7700K & Corsair H100i v2
Mobo: Asus Maximus IX Hero
RAM: 32 Gigs @ 3000Mhz, Corsair Dominator Platinum
GPU: Asus Strix 1080 A8G
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500gb
PSU: Corsair HX750i
Case: Fractal Design Define S

dont bother with the I7, get a better quality PSU at around 500W and get the RX 480 8GB over the 1060 6GB

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Hello again,

Thank you for the replies.
The RX 480 is at the same price as the 1060 mini - 308 USD ( but yeah, with 2gb extra + 256 bit compared to the 1060's 196 bit ) So maybe on paper it is the better choice!
As for the PSU - the first PSU I chose back a few days ago was the Fractal Design Integra M 750 Bronze 80+ for 99 USD  .. or did you have in mind that I should get a Gold standart? because they tend to be a bit on the expensive side here. The cheapest I could  find ( and also with a decent brand ) is the Corsair RM650x GOLD for around 140 USD.

Cheers.

got to agree here, between hypertrhead and a power supply that's not garbage, i think a power supply that's not garbage will be better for longevity :D

since you're a bit fresh to the pc world, i'll straight up say this:

80+ standards say NOTHING about quality, all they indicate is the power supply's efficiency at specific usage percentages.

for example, you could pass for 80+ titanium with a power supply that's belching fire out the vents by the time the verification is done, and 80+ will gladly let you slap titanium on it.

Which one would you recommend then ? To be fair I am indeed fresh to the PC world ( or to be more precise I am yet to be fresh :D ) Chose the Corsair VS 650W because - 1) is cheap, 2) heard the brand. But as for the different particular models - VS, RM, etc, Im ignorant
- What is the diff. between these and the one Damascus put ( Corsair CX550M 550W ) in the pcpartspicker page.
Thank you.

pretty much every brand that has decent models (corsair and evga, to name two examples) also has a few "lesser" units.

for corsair it's pretty simple, their product stack is as follows:

VS, CX/CXm, RM (these are old), RMx, RMi, AX, AXi, HX, HXi

in essence, avoid VS, avoid corsair CX units with a green label, CXm with a white label are pretty good power supplies for the low end especially seeing their price in some regions, old RMs were pretty good aside from some "oddities", and everything RMx and up is good enough to essentially not care.

for evga's product line, i usually keep it short:

avoid evga B like the plague, they have a few 80+ (not even bronze) units out there that are essentially fire hazards

as for the good ones, evga G2 pretty much covers the entire range with no worries.

as for the rest, we have a forum member that keeps a listing of the good, the bad, and the fire hazards:
