I am on a budget of around US$750 and i was looking to get a nice mid-range PC. For my PSU, i was thinking to get a refurbished coolermaster elite V2 550W for US$36 on their website itself so its not some shady website. i was thinking: yes or no? should i spend my money on a refurbished PSU or no?

droidbot... please... you have been bugging me to get the seasonic when i dont want to!!! STOP

I've said it once, but okay.

My experience with CM PSUs is mediocre, they have many units which are essentially firebombs, whereas the Seasonic is a generally reliable, solid unit with good support. It's like $45..

idk

It's an old, non-PFC unit that's outdated and over-rated (not actually a 550w unit). It's not worth $40 new, and it surely doesn't worth $36 refurbished.

I would suggest saving a little more into getting the Corsair CX450M. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817139146

It's much superior unit than the Elite v2 for $54.98. It does have a mail in rebate you can do afterwards to effectively make it a $34.98 unit.

Here is a much better system that is color-coordinated and has an SSD.

EDIT: So it turns out that MSI hasn't released a Kaby Lake compatible BIOS for that board yet. Replace that CPU with an i5 6500 and you're good to go.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
