Posted March 26, 2017 Hi lately when my fps gets over 40 my power supply starts buzzing. It's a PC power and cooling quad 750 , I have had it a while. Current system is an i5 4670k@4.4ghz ,16gb gskill ripjaws 1600 ddr3, MSI z87 mobo, gigabyte GTX 1070 g1 gaming. Voltages and temperatures are great, GPU under 64c and CPU under 60c with furmark and Aida 64 simultaneous. This is the sound it's making only under 3d loads and I did isolate the video card and it's not the culprit. Posted March 26, 2017 Dont risk it and buy a new PSU, if its a capacity and that dies it will likely take your whole build with it. Posted March 26, 2017 Author Its been like this for a while, in a menu where the fps hits the thousands it becomes a high pitched squeal. vsync doesnt help either. I did put in an order for a corsair hxi 750 so hopefully that solves the issue, thanks for the input. edit: i stopped the fan and the noise continued. Posted March 26, 2017 Well according to LTT, what coil whine sounds like (@1:58 in): and video on it from my experience with other electronics fiddling with the power delivery can help but you are usually stuck with it.
