is planet side 2 worth playing?

Does ps2 have a lot of hackers? I usually try to stay away from free to play games because of the hackers.

But everyone has been telling me to play planet side 2 lately. IMO, it looks like a fantastic game. (Plus kind of has a HALO feel to it) 

I'm installing it right now, but I want to know if its worth playing before I finish installing it. (its only at 11%)

Yeah its fun if you like sort of futuristic battlefield games, its free too which is nice. I havnt experienced any hackers on it.. Enjoy!

hackers get banned pretty quickly, SOE does a good job on staying on top of things like that.

Yeah this is what I've been hearing a lot. I've been hearing that usually once a hacker is spotted they're usually ban hammered right on the dot.

I'm kind of glad that SOE takes hacking seriously (Unlike nexon) *cough* *cough* because I mean, as soon as there is an update for a nexon game (Sudden attack, Combat arms ect,) 

Hackers have a hack ready in like an hour >_< and sometimes some hacks don't even get hacked which frustrates the crud out of me. (Which is usually why I try to stay away from F2P games)

My pc can easily run it. I mean I can handle top of the line games (BF4) at Ultra settings at 60fps in 720p.

I think the time to kill is really low, so be prepared to have a low k:d (I guess if you're above average, you'll obviously do better, but I think the average is pretty low).

Usually in BF3/BF4 its mixed (Usually depends on what map you're playing on)

I run solo most the time (following the zerg or a small group) and it's pretty fast paced. The only time I camp is when there is high ground and we are assaulting a base; the sniping class (infiltrators) do amazing (really high k:d) while camping.

 

Each class has a different feel. For instance, the MAX class naturally moves slowly, so the gameplay is usually slower (unless you are going against infantry, then you camp while twitching to the nearest enemy).

 

Each server has 200-300 people per faction (I think, and there are 3 factions) and they are split over 3 continents. Each continent then has a bunch of bases, so you end up with smaller groups usually, but there can be massive zergs while pushing for a special base.

 

According to the official FAQ:

Run and gun?.. we're talking full scale war here.. There are chokepoints, suppressive fire, snipers, all kinds of fighting... you can run and gun. but i doubt you'd stay alive very long.

before the recent optimization patch, i would dip down to 15 fps on ultra 1080p in large fights, but now I never drop below 40.

Dang, Now its making me wonder why this game is free to play if it has such amazing graphics <_<

I might need to seriously upgrade my GPU soon, so I can play at 1080p on ultra with all those players in one game >_>

They recently did an optimization push, and I get ~40 fps usually on modded ultra (I'm thinking of turning down CPU bound graphics and anti-aliasing to try for ~60 during battle).

 

That 650Ti might not do so well, but your CPU should do well as the game is CPU bound.

Well I've seen gameplay, that's why I said it looked like halo And I just tried Planet Side 2 (Can't play it) >_<

it crashed to desktop half way through the tutorial and I was playing at VERY LOW SETTINGS T_T

 

Guess my pc can handle BF4 on ultra but not ps2 >_<

It allows 2000 playes on three continents to battle out each other. The average kill is like 1 every minute in a half in an average battle but in hot zones they tend to rise very much

I can see users that have very high end gaming pc's (playing on ultra) with low ping (getting all the kills) since the graphics are so laggy. Because I mean I was playing the tutorial and was hitting 45 - 60 fps on very low settings >_< (and still crashed)

Personally I don't like the way it plays. I love the concept, but I can't get around how it controls. It's not a bad game, just not my thing.

To give you a sense of the scale of the continents... Think of 1 capture point as a battlefield map, more or less, and there are a metric butt ton of capture points, I don't know exactly but I would say there are roughly like 20-30 capture points

I like it so far but I have a hard time aiming and generally being good at the game because I'm mostly a console player not keyboard and mouse/ PC. I hate how the aircraft are controlled. The membership thing is a bit annoying too, it's two times the price of Xbox Live per year but it is not necessary to play the game.

If I were you I wouldn't be expecting play it on ultra, it's poorly optimised, can't take advantage of SLI and even a titan has trouble. Even on medium it still looks pretty sick. If you like fast paced games it might not be for you. I would call it slower than bf but quicker than something like arma. If I could give you one piece of advice it would be join an outfit or play with a platoon. The enjoyment level of playing with 30-50 people on your squad is so much better. Personally I really enjoyed playing, i've logged about 300 hours but it can become pretty boring because often you8 can go long periods of time with out battles.
