that's a shame :(, Thanks for the help everyone!

Hi!

Just looking for advice on storage upgrades for my laptop.

I have an Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition VN7-591G line laptop, with an i7-4720hq, 960m, 8gb of ddr3, and a (slow as all hell) 5400 rpm 1 tb hard drive.

I'm pretty sure it has an m.2 slot judging by disassembly vids on youtube.

would this ssd work? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167410&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Solid+State+Disk-_-N82E16820167410&gclid=CjwKEAjwh9PGBRCfso2n3ODgvUcSJAAhpW5o7RBolT6EHIDdgvtOrf1980UIZibD6YXBLCdNQyZRvhoCJczw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I also need a 2 tb 7200 rpm hard drive. (has to be 2.5" to fit in the laptop)

Just looking for an ssd for Windows+programs and the hdd is for games+big files

My whole budget is 150$, but i might stretch it to 200$ if you guys find a good deal

Thanks! (Not sure i mentioned above but this needs to be in USD)

that SSD may not work due to it being NVMe and most laptops not having NVMe slots, instead SATA

Something like a Crucial MX300 would work

alright, thanks! I could've sworn there was a deal for this on slickdeals but it seems to have dissapeared.........

This video walks you through it.

This laptop DOES have an M.2 slot.

I am not sure if it is PCIe based (NVME support) or SATA though. So going with the intel m.2 SSD might not give you much of a speed benefit over a slower M.2 SSD.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Thanks! yeah I'll definately be going with the mx300, however i'd like a 7200rpm hdd (maybe that's too much judging my budget.) and i've heard bad things about seagate hdd life spans.

Cheapest 2tb 7200rpm drive unfortunately cost 300

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious
