Networking on a Router?

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to set up some form of the networking on my router (if it can be considered networking). I have an Archer C7 AC1750, which has the typical USB shared storage, and some shared printer setting. I currently have a USB as the shared storage, and I access it by plugging in the IPS address in the run command. My question is: Is there way to make it more efficient or better? Is this as good as it gets with a router? I have a 6TB external HDD, can I hook it up and set is as NAS?

Yep, you lack features from a custom NAS like freeNAS, but it is an affordable way to share storage across a network.

Even a cheap NAS box like the DNS-320L will give you hundreds of extra features.

My DNS-320L has Two SATA bays and a USB port leftover, So i can still plug a third drive or printer into it.
