new gaming pc

hello guys, i just wanna know if this rig is good enough for gaming or no? or i should have bought RX 480 4GB ? i just bought it today
i5 4460
Gigabyte H81
8GB RAM DDR3
Cooler master B500 ver2
GTX 1060 3GB 
Benq GL2460 24 inch TN Monitor

I think this is great for starters. If you built this yourself, it will be easy to upgrade, but this is a pretty good gaming rig for starters.

Nice! if anyone starts bugging you about the wrong graphics card choice, don't worry about it. Graphics cards are usually the first thing you upgrade in a few years. for the years you have right now it'll do very well

This is the nice thing to say. The not so nice thing to say it that you should 100% go with the rx 480 4gb or 8gb. They are overall better cards and you can find the 8gb for pretty cheap.

Hes already bought everything, it's pretty exciting to make your first build/first build in a long time. don't make it about what he should have done

Yup, Red Devil RX480 8gb is $180 after rebate, cheaper than most 1060 3gb.

Even the 4gb RX480 is a lot better (and cheaper) than the 3gb 1060. Return it if you can

Vram doesn't mean anything if you artifact thanks to drivers. As someone who returned a 480 for a 1060, I can attest to it being a decent card.

But if possible to return the 1060 3gb and get the 6gb  it will be much better:)

And I'd go with ddr4 if the motherboard is capable

No motherboard supports both DDR3 and DDR4. Also no Haswell motherboards use DDR4

The point was :

a. If he bought DDR3 then clearly the mobo can't use DDR4

b. Doesn't matter cuz Haswell can't use DDR4 in general... a quick 5 seconds on Google could've told you if his mobo supports DDR4.

well, maybe i can exchange + some bucks to get the RX 480 4GB.. but idunno really.
anyway the RX480 8gb in my country is more expensive than the 1060 3gb  even the RX 480 4gB

depends on the game, but the 480 is slowly improving. However they are close enough that at the right price the 1060 6GB is still a good purchase

They're pretty much neck and neck performance wise, in some games the 1060 will push more fps, and in some games the 480 will
