Hi!

I am making a gaming rig and I need some advice on a gaming headset.

I have always dreamt of a Razer Tiamat 7.1, but now with the Razer Kraken 7.1 out I'm not so sure anymore...

I want to know which ones the better, and please dont come with "all of this is overpriced and doesnt give you the quality you seek", I know Razer is a little expensive, and sure sometimes totally overpriced, but still. I like them and so far they have given me awesome products (Razer Mamba 2012, Razer Deathadder, Lycosa, Deathstalker and Kraken pro).

However, if you know a really cool headset that has crystalclear sound and looks as said really cool, please tell me!

Thanks!

No.

And just to make myself clear....NO

Do not bother with 7.1 headsets, simply DONT audio quality is terrible due to having to use multiple little drivers for the 7.1.

Get a decent pair of can's and a soundcard with a external microphone.

2.1 is positional if the game supports it (which is pretty much all of them at this point) if you didn't notice.

Can easily tell where people are in FPS games with my plantronics 380's.

Like Linus said a while ago... 2 ears, 2 speakers. So going off that, headsets with multiple drivers in each ear are pointless.

Hi Eckron.

I personally get the why you want the Tiamat. I have one myself. With that said. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

I always though that it would be awesome having a 7.1 headset. The truth of the matter is its not.

The directionality (if that is even a word) does not reflect where the things actually are. When you are wearing the headset it would seem that way at first but in reality you are better of with stereo headsets. I have found that it's pretty good for gaming but there are other  BETTER and cheaper alternatives.

I am a Razer fan boy. Trust me. Check the my signature.

Don't do it. Get a blackshark or a normal Kraken and get Razer surround and be happy. :)

Also you need a pretty decent sound card for the tiamat. Onboard doesnt quite cut it but a $50 dollar sound card could.

If you are ok spending that kind of money on a headset with everything I just said then go for it. :D
If you like it don't let other people dissuade you. We all have to do shit on our own sometimes.

Buy with something that has Dolby virtual surround or pro logic and option that you can turn it off whenever you want. Corsair vengeance 2100 or 1500 is a very good one and actually works as a 7.1 surround perfectly( almost ).

If I didn't make myself clear. Any 5.1 or 7.1 headset, whether its actual drivers or virtual is a waste.

Any headset that refer to themselves a "gaming" headsets are usually crap. They look good but sound like beats by dre. =))

Get a decent pair of headPHONES and get a separate mic. Then maybe get a decent sound card.

(Btw for the price I don't recommend the Xonar Phoebus) again "gaming" labeling is usually an excuse to put a premium on stuff. Don't get me wrong it's a great sound card and I use it everyday but there are other BETTER choices out there.

May I ask why you think Siberia Elite is the worst?

Because you're paying $200 for a Siberia V2 with better pads.

For $200 you can pick up AD700x/558/dt990 + blue snowflake and will be miles better than any headset on the market.

Well, which of these 3 would you call the best: AD700x/558/dt990 (personally asking)

Siberia Elite is making me laugh  The headset is a prime exsampel why you can sell a headset without it having good audio/mic quality. Uh pretty colours

Well, which of these 3 would you call the best: AD700x/558/dt990 (personally asking)

For comfort, it's a tie between the HD558 and AD700X.

For sound, it's a tie between the AD700X and DT990.

For build, it's a tie between the DT990 and HD558.

Not to say that any headphone is bad in any category, because they're all great.
