Hey guys im going to be buying a monitor this christmas but now im not sure if i should wait for gsync or not. Im not asking like how good is it because obviously its not out but besides screen tearing fixes what other benefits does it bring. I don't notice screen tearing, to be honest i had to google what it is so im not sure if i should wait for gsync. My monitor as the moment isnt terrible just a bit small so if it is a no brainer to wait for gsync i guess i will but if in my case it's not to useful then i wont. System specs are in my signature or whatever if you needed to know

I know that Linus loves G-sync but I don't see it useful for me. If you don't have a problem with screen tearing now then save your money and get a regular monitor.

I would wait. It has to do with more than tearing imo. It would make gaming like a movie, technically if it works as well as Linus for instance has made it seem, you would be bale to play JUST FINE with min FPS of 30, like a movie which is 25... That would be AMAZING. Crank up the settings, and get about 45 average with low 30's being your low's will look great! I can't wait for this personally.

personally I would wait for Gsync especially if you have a kepler GPU

Even if you don't notice now if you get a Gsync monitor you will really feel a difference.

Hope I could help!

Mantle vs Gsync...

GO!

It's difficult to compare them, mainly because they are two different things, however it is possible to look at how both these technologies contribute to having a smooth gaming experience.

As you probably know they are two very different things. If you look at how each contributes to the tearing, lag and stuttering problems, you will find that G-sync solves the problem natively, whilst mantle supposedly address it by throwing more performance at the problem by trying to have a new frame ready for each monitor refresh cycle.

So in terms of the smooth visual experience G-sync is designed to address this directly whilst mantle wasn't designed to deal with this problem natively, it was just designed to increase performance in general as well as making it easier for cross platform developers.

Or have G-sync AND higher resolution?

Wait for G-Sync. If the first tests hold true you can lower your standards on minimum FPS to 30 or 40. For instance Crysis 3 doesn't run maxed out on a GTA 770, like you have, because you have some frame dips and generally you are just hanging around 30-40 FPS (assuming 1080P). With Gsync those kinds of numbers would be super playable.

who cares...
