Hey guys.

I was planning on buying my computer parts in late April, but since there is some battling going on with Intel and AMD, I was wondering if I should buy my CPU and GPU now, or wait for Intel to fire back with something new. Also, if you think I should buy them now, should I go amd or intel?

well i think that 4 cores will be best for gaming for a couple more years and a little further into the future we might finally see gaming benefiting from the extra cores which comes with things like Ryzen And X99 over the quad cores of Skylake and Kaby Lake's current gaming dominance

get a grip!

@Jacob Canale if you're aiming high FPS, more than 60 I mean - you need that i7

i agree the 7700K is the best current CPU for gaming but if you want higher FPS, go for a 7600K and better GPU like a 1080

Nvidia for GPUs.

The Ryzen 7 1800X beats the i7-6900k most of the time, and it's only half as expensive.

Ryzen 7 is amazing for the money but Intel does still win at the extreme end with the 6950X and has been winning at the high end for a long time now but i think AMD could take it back to the days of Athlon where they were best but for now at least Intel still wins at the very top end and Nvidia still wins at the very top end for gpus but AMD could change that with Vega

According to the benchmarks I saw everywhere, a 6700k beats an 8 core AMD at gaming.

I don't spend 8 hours a day googling benchmarks, so there's a a pretty good chance I'm wrong.

you said intel will always be better that is what I disliked

Good luck, Have fun, Build PC, and have a Wii and PS2 as your only consoles.

I actually doubt Vega will change that, but it seems like it would at least put AMD back into the conversation.  Yes, Intel technically still wins, but at what cost?  The 6950x is $1700.  Plus, there have been talks about AMD releasing a dedicated HEDT platform and processor line, with the flagship processor being a 16-core, 32-thread monster for $1000.  This would crush Intel's high-end dominance.

Well, who's to say that the 8 core won't do better at gaming later down the line when updates come out? It's a new architecture. It needs time. X99 has the same issues,
